Department Of Law

History

It was a vision of our late founder Alhaj Mockbul Hossain, himself a lawyer, that the nation requires public interest motivated lawyers to protect the rights of the under-privileged and marginalized citizens of Bangladesh, in the pursuit of ensuring social justice.

This visionary perspective has been ingrained in the Department of Law since 2009, with the initiation of its 4-year LL.B. (Honors) program. The Department of Law currently admits 75 students in the first semester, aiming to develop a group of aspiring legal professionals and placing a significant emphasis on nurturing a deep sense of social responsibility.

As this program has advanced, it has consistently evolved in its quest for academic excellence. In the Summer of 2015, the Department of Law achieved milestone with its introduction of 1-year LL.M. program. Subsequently, in the Spring of 2023, the Department of Law made another groundbreaking stride by adopting an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum, in accordance with the requirements of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Bangladesh Bar Council (BBC), and the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).
